Mean Center of US Population

Ths US Census Bureau has performed censuses every decade since 1790, and this interesting map outlines the calculated mean centers of population for these dates. Starting 23 miles west of Baltimore the center has been gradually moving westwards, and was in the year 2000 located in Missouri.
When Washington DC was established as the federal capital it was located very near the mean center of population of the time. Maybe its time for DC to move west as well?
