Battle of Ball's Bluff, October 21, 1861









"A slight demonstration" by Union Brig. Gen. Charles Pomeroy Stone and 1700+ men at Ball's Bluff near Leesburg, VA. repulsed by an equal number of men under Confederate Col. Nathan "Shanks" Evans.

Union casualites: 1000 men ~Confederate casualties: 155 men.

Among the casualties: U.S. Senator Edward Dickinson Baker.
